History

Cornerstone HistoryCornerstone’s roots follow the history of its President and founder, Stephen M. Huddle. Having started at Manning, Maxwell & Moore (Crane & Hoist Division) in 1962, Stephen has over 50 years in the industry, imparting that wisdom on customers and employees alike from day one. When Manning, Maxwell & Moore was purchased in 1964 by Dresser Industries, Stephen followed. In 1986, Dresser’s Crane & Hoist Division was purchased by what was known as Lift-Tech International, being named Vice-President of the Canadian Operations for LTI a few years later.

On top of Stephen’s 50 plus years of experience, Cornerstone’s employees bring a combined two centuries of knowledge and experience in the industry. It was in May of 2000 that Cornerstone was incorporated under Steve and his partners. Starting with R&M in 2000, CMHI has built a strong grouping of brands and vendors to best service its customers. These brands include Columbus McKinnon, Demag and Spanco.  2008 saw Cornerstone being named a Columbus McKinnon Platinum Dealer. It was only a year prior that Cornerstone won the Yale Shaw-Box Award of Excellence as their number one international dealer.

Cornerstone continues on to this day as a family owned and operated business. Under the guidance of Stephen Huddle, and his sons, Brian and Brad, Cornerstone remains a strong beacon of integrity and hard work.
